Whenever I plan to go overseas, normally i would do some homework and find out some background about that country.
Lets say about
Taiwan first as my last visit to Taipei was on 2rd Nov 2013 to 6th Nov 2013 (5D4N).
My hubby and I plan to go on Nov 2013 is because his 24th Birthday falls on the 3rd Nov. So we intend to celebrate his birthday overseas.
1)
Confirm the dates
The best thing is that you can travel on any dates. Have to be flexible on the dates because just a one day difference and the air tickets can cost a lot more.
2)
Airlines
Have to google and check which airlines are now are having those $0 fares or twin deals or any other promotions.
3)
Hotels
Normally i will either book directly from the hotel itself if not i will book through http://www.agoda.com/ . I know there's a few more other websites that also offers cheap hotels. So must make comparison first. I wont pay extra for the breakfast in the hotel, because the amount i paid for the hotel breakfast is so much more. I would rather go downstairs and eat their local breakfast.
If planning on a budget trip, hotels and air tickets are the main factors and normally these two are the main cost of the trip.
No meals are provided. We did ate quite a heavy breakfast before boarding but when we started to see and smell our neighbors food, my hubby started to be hungry. End up buying that really small portion of Nasi Lemak for $12 (i think).
I would also search for Taiwan Tourism Board in SG and called them and ask if there's any goodies or any free items that i could use during period of time i'm traveling to Taiwan. Every quarters of the year they have different goodies. This time round i was given these 2 bus tickets, 2 coupons to exchange for a mini box of pineapple tarts and also a discount coupon for the 小人国 theme park. A few years back i was given a limited edition ez-link card so when im in taiwan i just need to top it up will do.
When we arrived in Taipei, we need to go to the basement (Bus Terminal) and ride the free bus. There are many different kinds of bus and they travel to different places. As we are staying at XiMenDing, i manage to find a bus that can drop us at a MRT station which is just a few stops away from XiMenDing station.
